| Audemar returned to Kempton tonight in a competitive 7 furlong handicap. Dropping back in distance, and this time ridden by Richard Hughes, he broke better, but was still very keen in the early stages, fighting the jockey and refusing to settle. Turning into the straight Mac's Power made a sharp break for home, opening up a 4 length lead, but Richard Hughes, pushed Audemar on 2 furlongs out and drove him home to hold off the favourite, Duke's Art, for a hard-fought win. Afterwards the jockey reported that the horse has much more improvement to come as he learns his job andlearns to settle in the early stages of races. |
